& Supplier Developer
What does a Project Sourcing Engineer & Supplier Developer do?
The role mentioned above in Wessel-Werk involves managing multiple areas simultaneously, with a strong focus on project sourcing and also overall supplier development and purchase price management.
You’re expected to coordinate sourcing projects across multiple international teams that may have a stake in a technical project. You'll source specific parts & commodities as well as tools and molds and benchmark suppliers and market prices. Your aim is to find the best value for money whilst considering sustainability & reliability of the partners.
You will evaluate supplier capabilities and capacities when entering into the decision making process with the international team members & stakeholders. Technical knowledge especially but not limited to injection molding is essential to assure right decision making.
Supplier development is another key role of the position holder. It covers mainly new supplier integration into the Wessel portfolio, existing supplier development in quality and costs as well as supporting the sampling process.
Participation in contracting & supply chain setup together with Operations and international team members is mandatory and requires certain know-how in commercial aspects of the sourcing tasks.
Last but not least, you will do benchmark projects to identify cost reduction potentials and value-add possibilities to assure price competitiveness of the Wessel Group. Therefore, you will interact with local but also overseas teams as well as national and – if applicable – international supply chain partners.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage sourcing projects as project leader, working closely with cross-functional groups to ensure seamless project implementation.
Identify, select, qualify, and form strategic partnerships with suppliers based on internal and external customer needs within the framework of Wesel’s strategic direction.
Evaluate suppliers' capabilities regarding quality, technology, service, cost competitiveness, capacity, financial strengths, flexibility, and commitment.
Negotiate the best price and terms and through the onboarding process establish expectations for our partners.
Execute master purchase agreements.
Support Wessel’s Global Sourcing Team to develop sourcing and overall supply chain strategies within a category or categories.
Work closely with the procurement (Buyer/Planners, local and international) team on cost, source information, lead-time, and other appropriate information to the production environment.
Work upstream on product development programs to champion the sourcing role and ensure practical cycle time is communicated and provided to procure material.
Collaborate to ensure that supplier performance and DDPM goals are achieved through the sourcing strategy.
Co-facilitate and manage supplier performance (i.e., cost, quality, delivery, customer service).

Qualifications & Background
Higher education, preferably a technical background related to plastics & injection molding with knowledge in mold making and injection molding.
Several years of experience as an SQE or Supplier Developer preferred, classic Sourcing Engineers are also being considered.
Analytical mind and high process understanding, following SOPs strictly to assure comparability of the results.
Familiar with quality tools and procedures.
Chinese native with good or fluent English proficiency.
Driver License and own vehicle.
Reporting Line
You will primarily report to your direct superior, the GM China (foreign national).
Secondary, you will report to individual stakeholders (e.g. Project Managers) depending on the entry path of the project.
